If you have been informed your job is at risk of redundancy, or you have been made redundant, it may pay to take advice on whether the redundancy is fair. Redundancy is, for example, seen by some employers as a convenient excuse to get rid of an employee whom they are unable to dismiss by other means.

However when making an employee redundant, an employer must tread carefully. Even if there is a good reason for redundancy, a failure to adopt the correct procedure can expose the employer to an unfair dismissal claim.

Alternatively you may simply need reassurance that you have received what you are entitled to and that your employer has acted fairly.
