'Fare Play' for local taxi driver thanks to MK Legal!

Following a taxi journey a fare paying passenger made a serious allegation against a taxi driver, Mr C.  In the light thereof the driver was suspended by two Local Authorities who held committee hearings to determine whether the driver remained a fit and proper person to hold a Taxi Licence.

MK Legal’s Director Dylan Eklund represented the taxi driver at two hearings where the Councils considered the evidence from both the driver and the complainant and then assessed whether his licence should be revoked or at the sanctions applied.

By presenting to the committee evidence which demonstrated that the computer records held by the taxi company contradicted the version of events given by the complainant, and by highlighting discrepancies in the complainant’s testimony, both committees concluded Mr B was still a fit and proper person.

“This interesting case had a lot riding on it.  If the client had not bee successful then he would have had to sell his taxi and his house would have been repossessed” said MK Legal Director Dylan Eklund.  “It was very rewarding to obtain a successful outcome, particularly as I was not permitted to directly cross-examine the complainant under the rules of procedure.”
